Pilot Bio-gas grid at Kolvan
GIZ has installed bio-gas plant of capacity 400 m3 based on dry digestion technology with Napier Grass as feed material in Kolvan village of Pune district.
For piloting the bio-gas pipeline network, bio-gas is supplied through piped network to one of the nearby households for cooking, the self-help group which cooks mid-day meal of 400 students in the nearby school and at the plant site.
Gram Oorja has designed, helped in installation and successfully commissioned the distribution network for supplying bio-gas. The project was commissioned in March 2014.
Bio-gas is transported to around 550 m from project site. The bio-gas consumption rate is 10 m3/hr.
Each consumer is provided with safety equipment and also with the gas flow meter. The tariff is set for usage of bio-gas. The local energy committee collects the amount for monthly usage, which is used for operation and maintenance of the plant.
